Bakersfield Holistic Dentist
What Is Our Approach to Holistic Dentistry?
Our approach to holistic dentistry is to protect your oral and overall health by providing preventive care, using biocompatible materials, and using conservative, minimally invasive treatment.
Preventive care
Your routine comprehensive exams will assess the following:
- Periodontal (gum) health
- Tooth health
- Correct function and harmony with your teeth, bite, and jaws
Patient education
We explain your role in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and thorough oral hygiene habits. After we scan your teeth with an intraoral camera, you can watch a monitor as we discuss any oral health issues, diagnosis, and treatment options.
Continuing education
Although California requires that dentists complete a minimum of 50 hours of continuing education every two years, Dr. Woolf completes 150 hours yearly—six times the annual requirement. Our dentists commit to continuing education, including training in preventive, restorative, and CAD/CAM dentistry.
How Do We Restore Teeth?
We restore teeth with mercury-free, metal-free materials.
Crowns
e.max
We provide ceramic e.max crowns to restore front teeth. Our ceramist overlays the metal-free, high-strength ceramic core with porcelain that mimics the color and translucence of your natural teeth.
Zirconia
Zirconia crowns, milled from a pure zirconia block, provide extra strength for molar teeth. The results look natural.
Dental Fillings & Sanitary Amalgam Removal
If you need dental fillings, you will receive mercury-free composite fillings or ceramic inlays or onlays. If you have amalgam (“silver”) fillings and want them replaced, we use sanitary amalgam removal to minimize your exposure to mercury dust.
We take these steps:
- Isolate the teeth that require amalgam removal with a rubber dam
- Use high-volume suction to remove amalgam debris
Clifford Materials Reactivity Testing
If you completed Clifford tests, please bring a copy of the results with you to your appointment. We will refer to the recommendations as we determine your treatment options. If you are interested in getting Clifford tests, you can refer to the Clifford Materials Reactivity Testing website to locate a provider.
We share your concern for your total well-being and holistic, or biological, dental care that supports it. Please tell us if you have allergies or sensitivities to any chemicals or materials, and we will accommodate you.
